The New York City Department of Parks and Recreation is leading the effort to create a Shirley Chisholm Circle in Brower Park. The Shirley Chisholm Circle is supported by Borough President Eric Adams, Council Member Robert Cornegy, Mr. William Howard, the Friends of Brower Park, Inc., and the Brower Park community. We need your donations to bring this beautiful commemorative to life. The new Shirley Chisholm stone marker and plaque invites visitor curiosity and remembrance. An information sign designed by NYC Parks & Recreation’s Arts & Antiquities staff will be inform visitors of her history and accomplishments. Additional Shirley Chisholm Circle trees will be planted to replace old growth trees as they reach their end of life cycle. Memorial trees are being purchased through community contributions through the New York Tree Trust.
The endowment will ensure that the Memorial Stone Marker and Plaque will be cared for by the NYC Parks, Arts and Antiquities department. The inscription on the plaque will read:
